Portrait of the artist Tim Chaisson
Aug 11th, 2010I met Tim back in December 2009 at a Trews show .. Super nice young man..
When you meet Tim the first things that caught your attention is his eyes and his smile.
Like I always say, when I do a portrait, there’s always a challenge in each of them… that was the challenge I would work on.. recreate those eyes and huge smile :D
That night I took some shots of Tim and The Trews together… I thought using one of these shots to make a portrait of Tim. I didnt want to paint a portrait out of some promo shots.. Promo shots are good pictures but you dont get that natural/every day life look you know..
Here’s the painting

You can see a higher res here
It’s crazy when you choose a portrait to do, you bet this or that will be
a challenge to recreate.. you focus so much about this challenge that you forget about the other details.. like doing a plaid shirt **face palm**.. I never noticed he was wearing a plaid shirt until the face was done.. Or should I say, I never paid attention it was a plaid shirt.. not that it’s hard to do… it’s just
long.. HAHHA
I am very happy with the results.
