Real and painted

The other night, my friend Meladee sent me a message with this picture

The photo on top half is of Brent Fitz from the Slash concert she shot in Winnipeg and at the bottom.. well.. it’s the painting I did.  If you want to read the blog about the painting.. here’s the link http://nannerland.com/blog/index.php/2010/11/brent-fitz-on-drums

When I got the message and open it.. I didnt know what to say. I was.. kinda..  speechless.
I use the picture as a reference  and paint it BUT in the end, I never place the photo next to the painting and see if it really look alike. I  go with my photographic memory.

I never posted a painting I did with the real picture I took as reference.  I thought for this one.. I would do it and share with you . Hope you like it as much as I did :)

Once again thanks to Meladee for letting me paint one of her pictures :)

Check out her work.. she is amazing :)

Jessie and Woody Photoshoot

Since I’m little, I always had fun animating things.

My friend one day said:

“Being a kid with money is one of the joy of being an adult!” – Annie Veillette

Yesterday I was bored and since I have Jessie and Woody dolls (Toy Story) I always wanted to take those dolls and do a photoshoot. HAHHA It was so much fun..

Here’s the results:

Jessie:
I swear it was THAT big

Woody:
Please.. just …shut up..

Jessie:
And then .. when I saw it.. I did that Karate Kid thing

Woody:
**laughing**

Jessie:
Hey dude.. are you okay? I swear it’s true.

Woody:
**still laughing**

Woody: You know my hat is way to big for your head right?

Jessie:
Yep.. I cant see a freaking thing. *laughing*

Jessie :
Don’t try this at home, this stunt was performed by a doll.

Sleeping beauty

Sometimes you just know.

Few weeks ago, I was with my niece. We love taking pictures together. She was playing with that pink tube and we tried to take pictures from different angles. Fun times!! At one point she close her eyes and soak up the sun.. I look at her  and I thought she was so beautiful, so calm, so serene .. I had to take a picture of that moment … and…I just KNEW it would be a great picture.. I just knew it..

I took it and here’s the result:

Meeting Students @ Cegep Marie Victorin

A couple weeks ago I’ve been asked if I would be interested to go to Marie Victorin school here in Montreal and talk to 12-15 students (studying music) about my photography, how I started the whole thing, show my work  and do a little photoshoot at the same time. Why not!!!!

Samuel (the teacher) told me how cool his gang was and he was right on the money.. such great gang, very energetic and very interactive. It was fun.

The room where the photoshoot would take place, it was a warm and beautiful room. Lighting, piano, black curtain. It was really fun. We all know most of people don’t like to be taken in pictures right? So the goal with the photoshoot was to take their personality and put it on a photograph.

I got a bunch of photos but here’s my favorites of all.

Note:
On our way to the photoshoot room, Eric told me he already did photoshoot before with his band Colorsound.  When I took pictures of him.. I asked him to just play piano and sing..  great voice .. Check his band .. I love it… the band’s name really fit with their music.. very colorful :)  http://www.myspace.com/colorsoundmusic

My favorite photograph of all :)

More wicked news..

I’m nominated twice in the Concert Photography Design Category in the 9th Annual Independent Music Awards. This is so cool. :)

Judges will pick their favorites but there’s also a “People’s Choice” award; that’s where you “the people” can help out. Just head over to the Independent Music Awards website to register and vote; you can vote one time per email address per category, and you can vote with all your email addresses. You can also vote for one picture or both while you’re there.

Nannerland Revamped

Welcome to my “new” site and my new blog.

Why I revamped my website?

Simply Flash websites are not THAT efficient at all. For my first website I wanted something eye candy and I got it which was perfect but after a while i couldn’t do what I wanted and it get really frustrating. I got an HTML website now on I don’t need to create profiles here and there to promote myself and show my work properly.. All I have to do is be everywhere and refer you to a link from my website.

As for the blog..  having everything at the same place is much easier. I will blog about my work : photography and painting but also about music too… Why? simply cause it’s my blog and I do what I want with it HAHHA and  I noticed that friends and total strangers wrote me via social network that because I post “XX”  they discovered a new bands, new music.. since I love music so why not

so that’s about it .
Hope you will like it as much as I do. Of course it’s still a work in progress.

Thanks to Luke who made the design and to my friends Sharon and Samantha for their time and help.

Feel free to write and let me know what you think.
Enjoy!!
